Upcycling is repurposing an object without degrading the material it was made from, in order to make another item of better quality. It is different from, and usually more environmentally friendly than, recycling. Recycling involves breaking down materials, often through energy-intensive chemical or mechanical procedures. Upcycling changes only the appearance of the original item, not its chemical composition.

Upcycling also gives me the opportunity to create super unique, funky products for unique, funky dogs. Old belts make great collars, and hemp webbing or old seat belts, covered with repurposed clothing or vintage fabric, are absolutely fabulous. Sweaters formerly destined for ugly sweater parties find new life as felted dog toys.
